Britney Carter is Newschannel 5’s evening co-anchor and producer.
She joined the KGWN team in February of 2015 after graduating from Metropolitan State University of Denver. In December of 2016, she earned the role of evening anchor and producer following nearly two years of getting to know the community on the morning show.
While she was at MSU Denver, Britney majored in Speech Communications, with an emphasis in Broadcast Performance, and a minor in Theatre. However, it was prior to college that Britney truly realized her passion for broadcast news.
A Colorado native, Britney got her start as early as elementary school, where she read school announcements on a live television feed. She developed more skills in high school when she participated in the daily television show at Bear Creek High School.
Britney had the opportunity at MSU Denver to work on the student run newscast, The Met Report. During her tenure at The Met Report, Britney gained invaluable experience working not only on camera, but behind the camera. While at the Met Report, Britney was offered an opportunity to become part of the KWGN/Fox 31 Denver news team, as a production assistant for their morning shows. As a production assistant Britney gained the knowledge and experience needed to understand what goes into running a morning television show.
During her senior year at MSU Denver, Britney accepted another opportunity within the Denver news community. She was offered an internship at CBS 4 where she was given the chance to work alongside field reporters, news anchors, and producers. It was during this internship where Britney was able to refine her on camera talents, as well as, her writing skills.
You can see Britney alongside Aaron Brown, Guy Brown and Kevin Keane at 5:30pm and 10pm Monday-Friday.
