CHEYENNE, Wyo.- It happens frequently. Not just globally, and not just in the United States, but also right here in Wyoming.
Forensic nurse from Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, Nichol Zimmerman, says sexual assault and human trafficking is an issue in our community, especially since Cheyenne has a huge intersection of traffic in the United States. Zimmerman says with Interstate 80 and Interstate 25, we see a lot of cases.
On Saturday, April 29 from 11:30am-2pm, CRMC will host a Building Hope event to help educate residents of this epidemic. Zimmerman says a speaker from Casper will visit to share her personal survival story. She says having a speaker who's been through the experience makes the issue more real- particularly a real problem right in our community.
By having the event, CRMC hopes to educate and have community involvement, as well as show what sources are available.
Zimmerman says their goal in Wyoming is making sure we’re all proactive and educated because we are all vulnerable
