CHEYENNE, Wyo. (KGWN) - Cheyenne Police held an event to educate more people on being prepared in a critical situation. The active shooter training was geared toward places of worship. This is in response to devastating shootings lately like the one at a church in Sutherland Springs, Texas.

This will help places of worship create security plans to keep citizens safe. Some of the topics covered included a security risk assessment and planning what to do in a critical situation.

Tony Childers, from La Grange Bible Church, says, "This is important because of several recent events that have happened all throughout the United States. Our church is trying to be very proactive in knowing how to protect the people that are in our congregation."

Attendees say one piece of advice that stood out was to remember to stay aware during a critical situation.
