Cheyenne Regional Airport to expand

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (KGWN) After a strong uptick in traffic in 2016, Cheyenne Regional Airport plans to expand in 2017. They plan to build onto the airport and also expand their destinations eventually. Jim Schell, Deputy Director of Aviation at CRA says the airport has a lot going in 2017.

"The biggest project we have coming up is the new terminal construction which is scheduled to take place in the April time frame for the beginning of construction." he said.

He also said that despite premiums on tickets from and into Cheyenne, there are still strong advantages of traveling from Cheyenne as opposed to traveling down to Denver to get to destinations.

"Number one is free parking," he told KGWN, "So you're going to save a lot of money depending on how many days you're gone on your trip. When you land back in Cheyenne you're home, so, you have no where left to go but just to your house."
