*ORIGINAL POST*

The Cheyenne Police Department is working with Wyoming Game and Fish to remove a mountain lion that wandered into a neighborhood.

It happened Thursday morning around 9:00am in the area of Forest Dr. and Plum Dr., near E. Lincolnway and Hot Springs. Officers closed down several streets while they safely move the mountain lion from the area.

Game and Fish managed to tranquilize the one year old male around 11am and safely removed it from the house's yard. The animal weighed about 60 pounds and it's unclear at this time why it wandered into town.

It will now be taken to Laramie for an assessment of the animal's health before being released.

No one was hurt during this incident, including the mountain lion.
