CHEYENNE, Wyo. (KGWN) - About one hundred people gathered in downtown Cheyenne this morning to help in the fight against domestic violence and the abuse of women and children.

Mayor Marian Orr says, "All around the world, International Women's Day represents the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women while calling for greater equality "

About 100 men, women, and children showed up at the Wyoming Supreme Court building today to lend their voices to those who often don't have a voice...or are simply not heard.

Community leaders and speakers were there as well as representatives from the police department, local groups, and victims of abuse.

One supporter, Mary Kemps, explains, "Domestic violence is just not acceptable to me ever and especially with children. so I am here to support my sisters and bothers, too "

The event is held each year to bring local women's issues to light.
