Cheyenne snow storm causes damage to trees

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (KGWN)- Forestry division estimates a dozen large trees have fallen under the weight of the wet snow in Cheyenne.

They say if you suspect there is damage to your trees, it is best to wait a few days for the storm to pass through before inspecting them- this will keep you safe and make it easier to see the damage.

Mark Ellison from Cheyenne Urban Forestry Division says they have seen damage to all species including cotton woods, elms, and a lot or ornamental trees.

Ellison says, if you live in an older neighborhood, with larger trees, you probably have significant damage to your trees. However, because of the amount of snow they are not able to get to most broken trees.

For the past two day, the city has been busy with storm clean up. The forestry division has been on call for more than 24 hours.
