Cowgirl Tennis adds five more players to their roster

Cheyenne, Wy- If you are a UW tennis fan you might notice several new faces on the court this coming fall. Head coach Dean Clower says " This is by far one of the deepest recruiting classes we have signed during my tenure as head coach. All of these young women are competitors and will be looking forward to get better each day they are here."

Here is a little information about the signees and their accomplishments so far.

Ana Fernandez from Madrid, Spain reached the semi finals in the regional open championship in doubles. She ranks among the top five in the U18 region, top 100 in the Spanish Open, and she has won several national titles.

Mihaela Kaftanova from Sofia, Bulgaria is a U18 Bulgarian National Champion in both singles and doubles. She placed fifth twice at the U18 doubles European Individual Championships.

Ida Krause from Vedbaek, Denmark is ranked fourth in the U18 division and 17th overall.

Maria Oreshkina of Moscow, Russia is among the top 100 Senior Women's players in her county.

The fifth signee is Ana Royo. She joins Wyoming after playing at Nebraska Kearney for two years. She is 7-2 in singles play and 8-2 in doubles. She was named Mid America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Freshmen of the Year and to the second team. She also finished with a 20-4 singles record and a 13-5 record in doubles
