CHEYENNE, Wyo. (KGWN) - A crash involving multiple vehicles happened on I-25 on Friday afternoon, just south of Central and Vandehei.

It was about 4:30 in the afternoon when the wreck occurred.

The initial wreck involved a vehicle trying to change lanes. Due to slick conditions, the vehicle hit the median and went off the road.

This led to an additional crash. A semi driving saw the initial wreck and tried to move over. He lost control of the tractor-trailer, hit the median, and jack-knifed.

Two other cars were behind him. A 17 year-old driver tried to stop, however a Wyoming Highway Patrol Trooper says roads were "a sheet of ice." The car hit the semi and ruptured the fuel tank. That driver was taken to the hospital for treatment and is believed to be ok. Another vehicle also tried to brake but hit the semi.

Traffic was blocked completely for about 45 minutes, then one lane opened. Traffic was down to one lane for about an additional 45 minutes. Traffic has returned to normal.
