Cheyenne, Wyo. - One of the newest buildings on the Laramie County Community College campus received a tremendous honor for its design.

CTA Architects Engineers received the Grand Prize Award for excellence in educational facility design in the fall 2017 edition of Learning By Design, the premier publication for education design innovation and excellence.

LCCC’s Flex Tech Building was recognized by the magazine for its architectural and interior design and for having benchmark-type attributes worthy of imitation.

Funding for the building was provided in part by Laramie County voters in a 2013 election. The facility houses several technical programs of study for the college and was constructed with adaptability to meet the current and future industrial workforce needs of Laramie County and the surrounding areas.

In its deliberation, the jury of architects and end-users applauded CTA Architects Engineers for its accomplishment in designing the facility based on six measures: innovation, community need, interior design, sustainability, functional design, and 21st century learning.

LCCC President Joe Schaffer had this to say about the recognition: “Although this is an architectural award, it’s also a good indication of the quality educational environment we are creating here at LCCC. While some see the unique design that allows for flexibility, energy efficiency, and aesthetics, many of us also see the innovations this building has in how students interact, learn, and demonstrate their skills. That is what they take to the workforce, and this building is exceptional in how it helps accomplish those things.”
