In our monthly series with Cheyenne Fire and Rescue's Byron Mathews, we talked about the upcoming Fire Prevention week and what Cheyenne Fire and Rescue have planned for the week.
Fire Prevention week commemorates the Great Chicago Fire in 1871 that lasted two days. Forty years after the Great Chicago Fire, the Fire Marshalls Association of North America and the National Fire Protection Association sponsored the first National Fire Prevention day as a way of keep the public informed about fire safety.
Cheyenne Fire and Rescue will have an open house on October 15th at the Cheyenne Fire and Rescue Training Facility beginning at 11 am. There will be activities to learn about smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, and fire prevention and safety.
