CHEYENNE, Wyo.- UPDATE 7/18/16:
According to a press release from Warehouse 21,
"Music lovers should gear up for an exciting concert on Aug. 27. The West Edge outdoor musical festival, EDGE FEST, announced today that COIN will be the headlining band for the free concert.
The members of COIN proudly call themselves a “product of the ’90s”. The lead singer, keyboardist, and lyricist Chase Lawrence opts for earnest songs about actual human emotions: falling in (and out of) love, worrying about the future, and missing the past. Their songs are hopeful, but behind the spring reverb and airy synths, there’s subtle regret and even morbidity. They’ve recently released their debut album, recorded in Nashville with producer Jay Joyce (Cage the Elephant, Sleeper Agent, Eric Church, Emmylou Harris, Little Big Town).
“COIN is not to be missed! We are excited to have them headline this event and come to Cheyenne,” said Jake Byrd, chair of EDGE FEST’s entertainment committee. Aug. 27 will mark the third year for EDGE FEST, which is put on by a group of West Edge passionate volunteers who want to celebrate music and Cheyenne’s next great neighborhood.
The event will be held at the Cheyenne City Municipal Parking Lot at the corner of Bent Avenue and West 21st Street from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. The parking lot is slated to become the future home of Cheyenne’s West Edge Civic Center Commons park.
EDGE FEST is managed by the Big 8 Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports local art and music in Cheyenne. Local marketing and advertising agency, Warehouse Twenty One, will be the hosting sponsor of this year’s event. Also set to sponsor the event is Blue Federal Credit Union, formerly Warren Federal Credit Union. "The EDGE FEST committee is dedicated to keeping this event free to music lovers, so sponsorships are critical to their mission, which is why Warehouse and Blue are here to support this event, and we hope others will step up and do the same," said committee chair and Big 8 Foundation board member, Dave Teubner.
Supporting bands and other sponsors will be announced in the next couple weeks. Music fans are encouraged to put this event on their calendar, and follow EDGE FEST on Facebook."
ORIGINAL POST: According to a press release from Warehouse 21, "For the third year, a free outdoor music festival will be held in Cheyenne’s West Edge District by a group of West Edge passionate volunteers, who are set to put on another groovy concert on Aug. 27. Last year the event featured Grace Askew, the folk duo Midas Whale, and opening act, Luna Rae.
EDGE FEST 2016 will feature great music using the outdoor scenery of the West Edge as a backdrop.
The event will be held at the Cheyenne City Municipal Parking Lot at the corner of Bent Avenue and West 21st Street. The parking lot is slated to become the future home of Cheyenne’s West Edge Civic Center Commons park. Dave Teubner and Dean Dexter, co-owners of Warehouse Twenty One, will be the hosting sponsor of this year’s event. Teubner said, “The private sector partners, including myself, are hopeful that the park will be a future location for music in the West Edge for years to come.”
Last year was the second year for EDGE FEST and the event drew hundreds of people to come down, explore and celebrate the future of Cheyenne’s next great neighborhood—West Edge. The first year’s success spurred energy from volunteers to continue the event as an annual outdoor musical festival.
The event is set to announce the headliner, supporting bands and sponsors in the next couple weeks. Music fans are encouraged to put this event on their calendar, and follow EDGE FEST on Facebook.
EDGE FEST will be on Aug. 27 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and is open to the public. Along with great music, attendees will find amazing food from local food trucks, thirst quenching beverages and other great local entertainment."
