Local dentists, hygienists and volunteers coordinate a day to provide screenings and any needed treatment to children under the age of 18 who do not qualify for state or federal dental assistance. Assistance is also given to families to help with government programs to help find a permanent dental home for these children.
Left untreated, tooth decay can have devastating effects on young children and has been connected to more serious health concerns later in life, including cardiovascular disease, stroke, bacterial pneumonia and diabetes. Early dental problems can affect children's learning a, how they interact with other kids and their ability to eat.
This years event in Cheyenne, held by the Southeast District Dental Society, will be on:
February 3rd from 8am-4pm at Laramie County Community College, 1400 East College Drive, Cheyenne, Wyoming 82007, at the Science Center (SC) 122.
