Golf tournament to raise funds for Victim's Assistance Program

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (KGWN) - A golf tournament will be held this weekend to raise money for the Victim's Assistance Program in Laramie County.

The Laramie County Sheriff's Department Victim Assistance Program provides resources to people in Laramie County. Services provided by the Victim Assistance Program include, but are not limited to:
- Emotional support and community service referrals, Crisis intervention services, Assistance in filing victim compensations claims, Information about the status of a criminal cases, Information on court procedures, Accompanying victims and witnesses to court and parole board hearings, Employer and creditor intervention services, Facilitating the return of evidence, Assistance with court ordered restitution, Information and referrals on family violence and stalking protection orders, Assistance in filing small claims, and DUI Victim Impact panels.

The grant money provided for the program is allotted for specific purposes. The funds raised from this tournament will help provide victims more resources.

The tournament is taking place on Saturday August 12th at Little America. County Commissioner Ron Kailey says they hope to raise more than $6,000.

The day portion starts at 5:00pm. There will will also be several games and prizes. The public can get into contests (Putt contest, longest marshmallow drive, etc) at 7:30 for a small fee and get pizza and Pepsi until they run out. Kailey says, "Come out and see the craziness."
