Emigdio Lara Sr. was sentenced Friday by District Judge Catherine Rogers.

Lara had pleaded guilty last August to second-degree murder in the killing of Victoria Juarez, 21. Her body was found in the basement of a Anong's Thai Cuisine restaurant on June 26. Police say she had cuts on her body and multiple injuries to the back of her head.

Officers and family friends have confirmed that Lara was Juarez’s ex-boyfriend and the father of her child.
