CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Wyoming officials have named a new warden to oversee the Wyoming State Penitentiary in Rawlins.

Mike Pacheco will be promoted to warden of the state penitentiary in September. A news release from the Wyoming Department of Corrections says Pacheco began his corrections career in 1992 and has served as a warden at the Wyoming Honor Farm in Riverton since August 2010.

The release says Pacheco is a Certified Correctional Executive through the American Corrections Association and is also a trained auditor.

Corrections department Director Bob Lampert says Pacheco has experience with inmates from minimum security to death row and a thorough understanding of the department's vision.

Outgoing WSP warden Eddie Wilson will become warden of the Wyoming Medium Correction Institution.
