CHEYENNE, Wy. (KGWN) - **UPDATE 10am Nov 7**
We’re learning more about a deadly wreck that killed a Cheyenne man based at Warren AFB.
It happened Monday night (11/7/17) at 5:30pm near E. Pershing and Hayes.
The Laramie County Sheriff’s Department and Cheyenne Police Department both responded to reports of a two-car accident. Once deputies arrived, CPD officers performing CPR on one of the driver's involved in the crash.
The two vehicles involved were a white 2016 BMW and a gold 1999 GMC Suburban. At the time of the crash the driver of the GMC Suburban stated they were having a difficult time seeing the road due to the falling snow.
The driver of the 2016 BMW was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the BMW was identified as Daniel Acosta, 36. Mr. Acosta was active duty at the FE Warren Air Force Base.
The drive of the 1999 GMC Suburban was identified as Peggy Jo
Wilson, 59 of Cheyenne. Ms. Wilson was transported to the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center for injuries to her left leg and foot. Ms. Wilson was treated and released from the hospital.
Authorities had the area blocked off for about 3 hours as they worked to clear the wreck.
The case remains under investigation with the assistance from the Cheyenne Police Department and the Wyoming Highway Patrol.
One person is dead and another injured after a crash in Cheyenne Monday evening. The Laramie County Sheriff’s Office says it happened at Pershing and Hayes.
Newschannel 5 got to the scene not long after it happened around 6 PM. Authorities had the area of Pershing between Taft Ave. and Whitney Rd. block off for about 3 hours.
LCSO says one person died at the scene and another had to be pulled from their vehicle. The condition of that person is unknown at this time.
Cheyenne Police and LCSO Deputies were on scene, however because there is a fatality in this crash, Wyoming Highway Patrol will be heading this investigation.
The identity of the person who died on the scene hasn't been released as authorities work to notify next of kin.
