Scammers target Black Hills Energy customers

Cheyenne, Wyo. - The Laramie County Sheriff’s Office is warning of a new scam hitting the area.

Deputies have received reports of a scam caller claiming to be with Black Hills Energy. They tell you your payment hasn’t been received and ask you to make payment over the phone with your credit card. If you refuse, they threaten to turn your power off.

This is a scam, so never give your credit card number to someone that initiates contact with you and never use the number they provide to call back. If you think the call might be real, just look up the phone number of the business for yourself and make inquiries to see if the claim they were making is legitimate.
