Sears closing Cheyenne store

Cheyenne, Wyo. - The Cheyenne Sears store is now on the chopping block.

This comes after the company announced this week another round of store closures. They plan to close 18 Sears stores and 27 Kmart stores across the country, including the Frontier Mall store, by the end of January 2018.

The Sears store in the Greeley Mall is also closing in January, but their Auto Center will close first, in early December.

In total, Sears Holdings is shuttering 63 stores across the country. They’ve already closed more than 350 Sears and Kmart stores this year, including the Cheyenne Kmart.

“Sears Holdings continues its strategic assessment of the productivity of our Kmart and Sears store base and will continue to right size our store footprint in number and size," the company said in a statement. "In the process, as previously announced we will continue to close some unprofitable stores as we transform our business model so that our physical store footprint and our digital capabilities match the needs and preferences of our members."

All 63 stores will remain open during the holidays and employees will get severance pay and can apply for other jobs within the retail chains. Liquidation sales begin as early as November 9.
