CHEYENNE, Wyo. (KGWN) - With winter upon us, driving safety is very important. Here's some advice from the Cheyenne Police Department:
Leave early to destinations so that you can take the time to slow down on the road. Give yourself plenty of time to come to stops. Check pedestrian crossing signs as you're approaching them at intersections. Most have countdowns. Start slowing down plenty early, so you don't slide through intersections.
Sergeant David Janes, of the Cheyenne Police Department, says, "This morning there was ice on the roads and things were a little more slippery driving around. We just need to remember more than anything it takes longer to stop. So we really need to plan ahead as winter comes."
Also be cautious of windy days. Wind can create more black ice. With wind as well, the key is driving more slowly.
