Three East players compete for quarterback position

Cheyenne, Wyo.- East football players, senior Dakota Merritt, junior Chance Aumiller and sophomore Graedyn Buell, are competing for the chance to start at quarterback for the upcoming season.

Last year, Matt Semler led the Thunderbirds and helped the team reach the semi-finals at the State tournament.

East's head coach Chad Goff says he's looking for a quarterback that can step up and earn the position.

"What I'm looking for, what the quarterbacks coach is looking for, is who competes?" says East's head coach Chad Goff, who's been at the helm of the organization for the last 13 years.

"Kids need to understand that when you have competition in certain positions it makes you a better team. If those three guys are battling it out, cut-throat type competition, doing what ever it takes, that makes them a better competitor for us on Friday nights," Goff said.
