Torrington lieutenant to take over WHP district five captain duties

Cheyenne, Wyo. - Wyoming Highway Patrol Lieutenant Steven Sanders was promoted to the rank of District Five Captain on Monday (Nov. 28th) by Colonel Kebin Haller.

Sanders is the Goshen and Platte County area division supervisor. District Five covers northwest Wyoming including Big Horn, Fremont, Hot Springs, Park and Washakie Counties.

Captain Sanders began his career with the Patrol in May of 2003 and was initially stationed in Lusk. As a trooper, Captain Sanders was also stationed in the Cheyenne and Torrington areas until he promoted to the rank of lieutenant as the Goshen and Platte County area supervisor in March of 2011.

Colonel Haller congratulated Captain Sanders and stated "Steve's longevity as a lieutenant and his proven leadership, teamwork, and hard working attitude will serve District Five and the Wyoming Highway Patrol well."

Captain Sanders is replacing Captain Tom Pritchard who transferred to WHP Headquarters in Cheyenne back in September of 2016.
