In 1968, the ROTC detachments of the University of Wyoming and Colorado State University initiated the Bronze Boot, a traveling trophy awarded to the winner of the “Border War” each year.

The UW Cadets are well ahead of Cadet Command averages in multiple areas. This last year UW performed exceptionally well, finishing number 1 in the region of 36 schools and number four in the nation in physical fitness test scores. UW was also in the top fifth in all of Cadet Command with reference to leadership scores.

The Army ROTC Basic Course is normally taken over two academic years, and includes classroom courses such as military history, leadership development, and national defense.
