CHEYENNE, Wyo. (RELEASE) - Col. Justin Walrath, a Thermopolis native, was chosen as the next commander of the Wyoming Air National Guard's 153rd Airlfit Wing.

He assumes command from Col. Paul Lyman on Nov. 4. Currently Walrath serves as the wing's 153rd Operations Group commander, overseeing flight operations of the wing's eight C-130s and more than half the wing's 1,100 personnel.

"It's a great honor to be chosen to lead the wing," Walrath said. "I look forward to ensuring they excel at their missions and remain assets to Wyoming and the nation."

Walrath has been a member of the Wyoming Air Guard since 2000. He joined after serving 10 years on active duty. He has deployed nine times in support of the nation's various combat operations as a C-130 pilot.
