Cheyenne, Wyo. - Weather closures for Thursday May 18: (Updated as of 2am)
Clawson, Willadsen and Gilchrist Elementary schools are closed on Friday and rural buses will not be running.
Due to inclement weather conditions, all non-mission essential personnel (including active-duty and civilian employees) will delay reporting to F.E. Warren Air Force Base until 0900 on Friday, 19 May.
Contact your unit leadership with any questions and monitor this page for the most current updates. Medical appointments scheduled until 0930 on 19 May will be rescheduled. Education Center appointments that are impacted by the delay will also be rescheduled. The Child Development Center and Youth Center will open at 0800. The Dining Facility and lodging facility will adhere to normal business hours.
The Laramie County Commissioners and the Mayor of Cheyenne have implemented a LEVEL 3 closure for all employees residing in Area 3 and a Level 2 Two hour delay for all employees residing in Area 2.
Laramie County Library closed at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 18 and anticipates to reopen at 10 a.m. Friday May 19.
The Boys and Girls Club of Cheyenne closed at 6 pm.
UCHealth at Cheyenne Medical Specialist closed at 3 pm Thursday May 18 and closed all day on Friday May 18.
YMCA is canceling evening programs, sports, martial arts, swim lessons and work out child care. Also all fitness classes for Thursday May 18.
Clawson, Willadsen and Gilchrist Elementary schools will be released at 12:15 p.m. All other Laramie County School District 1 schools will release at regular time today. District afterschool activities and athletic events for today have been canceled. Conditions will be reassessed tonight and early tomorrow
All non-essential personnel at FE Warren will be released at 12 pm.
Cheyenne Police have issued an accident alert which means they will only be responding to accidents that involve injuries, immovable vehicles,or the inability to exchange information. All other accidents should exchange information and later fill out a delayed accident form that can be found at the Public Safety Center.
I-80 Laramie - Cheyenne: Closed BOTH DIRECTIONS due to winter conditions between Laramie and Cheyenne. As of 1pm, the estimated opening time is between 8 and 12 hours.
US 30 Closed in both directions from Cheyenne to Laramie. Eastbound is closed from Rawlins to Rock Springs.
Other roads affected by closures are U.S. 287 south of Laramie and WYO 210 between Hynds Lodge and the I-80 Summit. I-80 eastbound between Rawlins and Laramie is also closed, as parking has filled in Laramie. Additionally, various roads across Laramie, Albany and Carbon counties are experiencing winter conditions.
