CHEYENNE, Wyo.- When he was just a young boy, Nate Adams had a passion for motocross. Originally from Phoenix, Arizona, Adams first began motocross racing and later found he had a talent in something many never even imagine trying. He took off in freestyle motocross, competing and performing some of the most dangerous and mind-blowing stunts. Adams said he realized he wasn't going anywhere in racing and added, "I was good at doing tricks and big jumps were never a problem for me."
From there, his hobby turned into something big. After his first year of being a professional, he became the World Freestyle Motocross Champion in 2002. In 2004, he took home gold at the X Games. The professional FMX rider went on to become a 23 time X Game medalist and champion of many other big events during his career.
Besides competing, Adams says he enjoys performing with Travis Pastrana’s Nitro Circus Live. He says it's a live action sport show with everything from BMX, mountain biking, freestyle motocross, snowboarding, scooters and all kinds of contraptions that you'll never see anywhere else.
Adams says he practices up to 3-5 times per week, but stays in it all year to make sure he's prepared. He says the goal is to not get hurt and to not get out of riding shape.
He says one of his favorite parts about the the show is the camaraderie between all the riders and performers. He said, "There's a lot going on and a lot of trust between riders." Adams says after all his years doing the sport, he still gets nervous, but added, "Tours like the Nitro Circus come up, and what better way to live than to have fun every weekend with your buddies."
