University of Nebraska fires Head Football Coach Mike Riley

Cheyenne, Wyo Some big sports news coming out of The Big 10. Earlier today the University of Nebraska's athletic director announced that head football coach Mike Riley has been fired. The Cornhuskers finished the 2017 season by losing 56-14 to Iowa yesterday. It was the first time in school history that they allowed at least 50 points in three straight games.

Riley has been with the Cornhuskers for three years. He went 6 and 7 in his first season, 9 and 4 last year, and 4 and 8 this year. No word on who the permanent replacement will be but for right now assistant linebackers coach Trent Bray will serve as the interim head coach. University of Nebraska's Athletic Director Bill Moos says: "These fans have been through a lot over the last 20 years. They and the university and certainly the players and all involved in my opinion, deserve to be in a position to be back competing for championships in the Big 10 conference and nationally."
