Cheyenne, WY (AP) - Laramie County School District 1’s Facility Advisory Committee is hosting an additional community meeting regarding boundary revision options for parents and stakeholders who were unable to attend this week.
The meeting will be held on Thursday, March 13, at 6 p.m., in the gymnasium at Anderson Elementary, 2204 Plain View Road.
The district is in the process of building Prairie Wind, a new school building located in the Central triad that will house students in kindergarten through sixth grade. The school is being built to alleviate overcrowding in the triad. This will necessitate boundary revisions.
In preparation, the committee met in January to look at many different options. Four of these will be shared on March 13. They are also available on the district’s website, www.laramie1.org.
At the meeting, parents and community members will provide input regarding the options. The committee will take this feedback into consideration when it provides the LCSD1 Board of Trustees with a short list of boundary choices to consider. The Trustees will vote on the final option at their May 19 meeting.
The approved boundary revision will not go into effect until August 2015, when Prairie Wind Elementary is complete. However, the Board and members of the advisory committee are working to prepare for the change a year in advance.
