Ample runoff forecast in Wyoming this spring

Cheyenne, WY (AP) - The latest hydrological forecast predicts plenty of mountain runoff in Wyoming this spring.

Federal hydrologist Jim Fahey said Tuesday runoff should be well above average in nearly every basin in Wyoming. The volume of water in some streams could run almost double the usual amount.

Nearly all of Wyoming has had above-average precipitation since October.

Mountain snow depths are 135 to 145 percent of the normal amount. The amount of water in that snow is well above average in most mountain ranges.

Fahey says the amount of water being stored in Wyoming's reservoirs is slightly below average.
