Cheyenne, WY (KGWN) - Final tune ups are being made this week to get ready for CFD and just like around the rest of Cheyenne, Frontier Park did not escape the damage that was caused around the city on Sunday.
With just days to go until the beginning of Cheyenne Frontier Days, massive rain and hail tore through much of Cheyenne.
Frontier Park was among the areas hit hardest.
"We had a tree go down on a power line. That got cleaned up rather quick. We had some flooding in certain areas. Portal 1 south was flooded," said Darin Westby, CFD General Chairman.
Wind turned over some tents causing some structural damage.
"The park was looking the best I've ever seen it and then obviously now we have a lot of debris and cleanup that is already underway," Westby said.
Westby says the extra weather cleanup will slow preparations a little, but he expects to be ready to go on Friday.
"For the most part the park is ready. We got a lot of stock coming on park right now and things are looking good," said Westby.
The 118th “Daddy of 'em All” officially gets underway on Friday and we'll be broadcasting live from Frontier Park at 5:30 with complete coverage of everything going on at CFD.
