Cheyenne, WY (KGWN) - The food is one of the best parts of any fair, and that is no different for Cheyenne Frontier Days. Walking around the park, riding the rides, watching the rodeo, all while enjoying a nice funnel cake, or some BBQ, or perhaps... an ostrich bratwurst.
There's plenty of options at CFD, but one of the best might have to be in the Old Frontier Town at Tate's Chuckwagon. They serve brisket, beans, and cobbler and have been doing so for a long time.
Brett, Tammy, & Tate Bauman are the family behind the brisket. Tate started when he was 8 years old and won a chuck wagon award in 2010 when he was 19. They tried to retire from the cooking life after that, but it was short lived.
In 2012, CFD reached out to the Bauman's to bring their brisket back to CFD and serve the general public. So, they loaded up their chuck wagon and brought some delicious brisket back to CFD.
Jordan & Esther Smith, from Tuscon, Arizona are in town for their first CFD. They stopped at Tate's Chuckwagon and gave it some high praise, "...it's definitely the best food that you're going to have here at the fair, and as you can see by our empty containers, we ate every last little bit of it."
There's tons of good food at CFD. You can never go wrong with an ice cream sundae, or some BBQ, or maybe even that ostrich bratwurst, but while your in town, you definitely have to check out Tate's Chuckwagon because it really is some of the best brisket you'll ever have.
