CHEYENNE,WY - Cheyenne Police will be hosting a free ten-week Citizens Police Academy that starts on Sept. 24 at the police department.

The academy is designed to inform and educate participants in all aspects of law enforcement and include predominately “hands-on” training sessions.

The academy is open to the public and will begin on Sept. 24, 2014 and finish on Dec. 3, 2014 (excluding holiday weeks). The classes will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will also be two Saturday field classes conducted for firearms and crime scene
investigation training.

The curriculum will include training and applications of constitutional law, criminal investigations, narcotics, as well as crime scene processing. Additionally, students will learn actively about defensive tactics, traffic enforcement, building searches and firearms
familiarization. Several practical exercises will be conducted so students can actually perform many elements of everyday law enforcement.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, agree to a background investigation, have a valid driver’s license and complete a waiver of liability. Space is limited to 30 valid applicants. For information, contact Officer Dan Long at 637-6583 or
