CHEYENNE, WY - Hackers have broken into the credit and debit card payment networks at two popular supermarket store chains, Albertson's and Supervalu.
That includes the Alberston's stores in Cheyenne and the rest of Wyoming.
The chains announced the data breach Friday morning. Company officials say the massive hack impacts their umbrella of stores such as OSCO.
Albertsons says it believes the intrusion took place between June 22nd and July 17th. They say they don't know for sure what, if any, customer information was stolen.
Company officials also say the breach has been contained and it's safe to use credit and debit cards at their stores.
Starting Thursday (8/21/14) Albertsons is offering a free consumer identity protection service for 12 months for affected customers.
