CHEYENNE, WY - Free tickets for the University of Wyoming football game against the U.S. Air Force Academy, in War Memorial Stadium, Sept. 6, are available to Wyoming veterans thanks to a joint venture of the University of Wyoming and the Wyoming Veterans Commission.
Veterans can request two tickets per veteran by contacting the Wyoming Veterans Commission at 307-777-8152. Veterans will need to provide their name, mailing address, phone number, and some basic proof of their veteran status, such as a veterans service organization membership card, VA health care identification card, or a retired military identification card. All requests for tickets must be received by the close of business on Aug. 28 and will be awarded on a first come, first served basis. Tickets will be mailed as the orders are filled and no later than Aug 28.
Wyoming veterans, current military personnel, and their family members will also be recognized during a special pre-game on-field ceremony during the annual Military/Veterans Day at the Sept. 6 game. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m.
Veterans of all eras and current military personnel will help form the tunnel through which the Cowboy football team will enter the field. Interested participants should meet at the north end zone 30 minutes prior to kickoff and will be escorted onto the field. Veterans are encouraged to wear hats, shirts and jackets to identify themselves as veterans. Participants must have a ticket to gain admission to War Memorial Stadium.
Veterans, military, their families and guests are also invited to VFW Post #2221, 2142 Garfield, for a complimentary Mexican buffet, hosted by the Wyoming Veterans Commission, from 5:30 - 7:15 p.m.
