Great Outdoors Month

Cheyenne, WY (KGWN) - Governor Matt Mead signed a proclamation Thursday declaring June as Great Outdoors Month.

State officials want to encourage people in Wyoming to get outdoors and enjoy everything the state has to offer like its state and national parks.

"Our outdoor assets here in Wyoming are such an important part of who we are in this state and what we have to offer both to our citizens and to our visitors," said Milward Simpson, Director of the Wyoming Department of State Parks and Cultural Resources.

Several events will be going on next month to celebrate the great outdoors including the Summer Outdoor Slam at Curt Gowdy State Park on June 7.
