House and Senate conferees address budget bill

Cheyenne, WY (AP) - Negotiating teams from the Wyoming House and Senate are still meeting at the State Capitol in Cheyenne to try to resolve differences in their respective amendments to the budget bill.

The conference committee started meeting Wednesday afternoon. By early evening, major issues still remained unresolved.

Among the remaining items was whether the Legislature should adopt a House amendment that would direct the Wyoming Department of Health to explore over the coming year a possible expansion of the state Medicaid system.

Committee leaders have said they're hopeful they can wrap up their work Wednesday evening.

Crafting the $3.3-billion general funds budget to fund state government operations for over the coming two years is the main goal of the legislative session that's now in its third week.
