Jury finds Gillette man guilty of abusing girl

Gillette, WY (AP) - A Gillette man has been found guilty of sexually abusing his girlfriend's daughter.

A jury deliberated about four hours Tuesday evening after a two-day trial before it returned a guilty verdict on five counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor. He could serve up to 50 years on each count.

The Gillette News Record is not naming the man or the girlfriend because of the possibility that their names could identify the victim.

The girlfriend is already serving a 40- to 50-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit first-degree sexual abuse of a minor.

The man was accused of sexually abusing his girlfriend's then 13-year-old daughter in 2012. Evidence showed that the man fathered a child with the girl.

A pre-sentence investigation was ordered.
