Breast Cancer affects over 230,000 women each year in the United States. And women here in Wyoming may be at a higher risk.
Amy Fox, Chair of Race for the Cure says, "we are ranked the 50th worst state in the US as far as women's breast health.”
This dire ranking is a result of women of Wyoming living so far away from their doctor that they don't get checkups as often as they should.
Wyoming's 19th Annual Race for the Cure is on a mission. That is, to spread awareness about the problem. Which is why Saturday's race is so important.
Additionally, it impacts the local economy. According to Race for the Cure, "seventy-five percent of the money stays right here in Wyoming. And it helps the people of our state get access to screenings.
And, for those who are feeling inspired, its easy to participate in the events. After all, it's the people such as mothers, sisters and daughters that truly matter to those taking part.
The race kicks off tomorrow morning at 7 am.
