LCCC Hosts District Pine Wood Derby

Cheyenne, WY (KGWN) - The 2014 Frontier District Pinewood Derby was held this afternoon at the LCCC gym. Cub Scout packs from across southeastern Wyoming were there along with their families. Over 100 cars were entered in this years race against the clock.

Originally, the pinewood derby was for Boy scouts and Cub scouts, but the event has been opened up to anyone who'd like to participate. There were cars entered built by moms, dads, and siblings of scouts. A renegade division has been formed and is open to all adults, den leaders, and siblings. There's also an open division for those who didn't qualify for rank divisional races.

But, it's not all about speed. There is a "Best Craftsmanship" division for the best looking car as well as a "Unique Design" division for the most creative car that was made.

If you're interested in volunteering, or participating in next year's event you can visit the Long's Peak Council's website listed above.
