Residents of Cheyenne are used to cold winters... but it's been a record year for low temps and snowfall in the Cowboy State. The deadline for an assistance program called LIEAP is this Friday, February 28th, and it could help a lot of families in the area.
The Low Income Energy Assistance Program is a federally funded program run through the Wyoming Department of Family Services.
The deadline to apply is this Friday, but Tests Pacheco with DFS said applicants that get approved now can be retroactively covered for their heating bills.
"If you couldn't pay your bills in December or January and you're still having issues with paying them we will still go back if you are qualified.we will go back and pay those bills."
Applications must be turned in or postmarked by this Friday.
