Cheyenne, WY (KGWN) - Governor Matt Mead hosted a delegation of representatives from Taiwan on Thursday at the Capitol. The meeting comes a little more than a year after Mead visited Taipei to strengthen trade relations between the two states.
Taiwan is a provincial region of the Republic of China. Mead and Governor Jung-Tzer Lin exchanged regional gifts, a book of stamps representing Taiwan for Mead and a tie with horses on it for Lin.
Lin and Andy Chin, Director General Taipei Economic and Cultural Office answered questions about the trade relations and future of Wyoming's export of coal to the region. In addition to coal, Mead is working to increase the amount of beef exported to Taiwan. He's also working to encourage tourism exchange between Wyoming and Taiwan.
Lin and the rest of the delegation met with the office of tourism later in the day.
