Cheyenne, WY (KGWN) - There are nearly 4,000 Boys and Girls Clubs across the United States, and this week we are celebrating them. National Boys and Girls Club Week is a celebration of the afterschool program that helps children stay out of trouble and keeps them learning and active after school.
The Boys and Girls Club of Cheyenne has a number of activities planned this week to celebrate including a family night on Tuesday evening which will give parents a chance to tour the brand new building on west Jefferson. On Thursday, kids will have a chance to select something to put in a time capsule, which won't be opened until 2020.
Baylie Evans who works for the Boys and Girls Club here in Cheyenne says that this week gives the club an opportunity to showcase what the club does for the kids and how they are making a difference in the kids futures.
The full schedule of events starts on Monday with an academic success certificate presentation for the kids. Tuesday will be a family night with food and games. Wednesday will be "Wanna Play Wednesday". Thursday will involve filling up the time capsule and Friday will be "Fun Friday".
