CHEYENNE, Wyo.- An organization has been created to help business owners network and encourage success.
The group's Facebook page says the the Downtown Cheyenne Business Co-Op (DCBC) strives to support: Communication, Encourage Joint Efforts, Increase Profitability and Enhance Awareness of Individual Downtown Businesses while promoting Downtown Pride.
Gabriel Pina owns Pina Business Services, he says "I've always found my greatest resource is other business owners." He formed this organization to help businesses network and succeed.
Although the name is the Downtown Cheyenne Business Co-op, there are no borders. Business owners are welcome across the city.
The hope is to develop partnerships the Downtown Development Authority, Wyoming Business Council, Cheyenne Leads, and the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce.
Pina says the goal is to get quarterly seminars for small business owners to learn more about being business owners, how to stay in business past the 2-3 year mark, as well as get them to the next level where they want to be in business.
Desiree Brothe, with the Downtown Development Authority/Main Street says the group helps bring a better sense of cohesion. With people working the same hours there may not be a chance to communicate with each other, but everyone is really trying to do the same thing. They're trying to run a small business in a location that we're trying to make the core of Cheyenne.
The DCBC is an independent organization. It hosts monthly mixers for business owners to network.
Keith Coombes with Ernie November says at the mixer he attended he saw some people he had never met before. He says you can "have some food, crack a couple of beers, and maybe have a battle plan on how we'd like to work together as a team instead of competing businesses."
The next mixer is Tuesday, December 15 at 5:30 at T&R Sportscards and More.
Although the organization and mixers are for business owners, anyone can participate in following the Facebook page. It lists upcoming events and other information about what the businesses have to offer. That page can be found at https://www.facebook.com/groups/1478015489172516/
