Cheyenne, WY (KGWN) - The Cheyenne Police Department in conjunction with the Drug
Enforcement Administration will be in the Cheyenne Police Department lobby this Saturday April 26 for the nationwide Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
The police department lobby will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for citizens to drop off unwanted prescription drugs.
By disposing of prescription drugs in the drop box, citizens can safely dispose of prescription drugs while also impeding juveniles and adults from easily obtaining unauthorized prescription drugs. Most juveniles are obtaining unauthorized prescription drugs from the home and prescription drug abuse is on the rise among youth.
The community did a great job in 2013 by dropping off 220 pounds of unwanted prescription medicines at the Cheyenne Police Department.
For those that are unable to drop of their prescription drugs on Saturday, the Cheyenne Police Department maintains the drop box throughout the year. Citizens are encouraged to stop by the Cheyenne Police Department Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to drop off their expired or unused prescription drugs.
