Cheyenne, WY (KGWN) - A new landscaping project at the CFD Old West Museum could have your name on it. The museum is laying down a small area of bricks near the entrance where several benches and a water fountain will be placed, but here's the catch.
You can buy and personalize your own brick..
4" X 8" bricks are being sold at $100 a piece and will fit 3 lines with 16 characters in each line. There's also another option of a 8" X 8" brick for $200. Those bricks will fit 6 lines of text with 16 characters in each line. And on top of that, the purchases of the bricks are tax deductible too.
Money from the sales of the bricks will go back into the project as well as back into the museum for things such as educational services, exhibits, as well as artifact preservation.
Kristin Custis, the museum's marketing coordinator said that this project is something that they've been kicking around for awhile, but finally decided to do this summer. She hopes that it will be a place were visitors can sit down and relax while enjoying the scenery that Cheyenne has to offer.
The project is being done by Harold F. Johnson Masonry and is expected to be finished by the start of Frontier Days. A bronze statue fountain, "Wishful thinking", by Shalah Perkins will be placed in as the centerpiece of the brick garden.
If you're interested in purchasing a brick you can call the museum at 307.778.7290 or you can visit their website which is linked above.
