Wheatland, WY (AP) - The Platte County Republican Party has censured GOP Gov. Matt Mead for signing the law stripping power from the office of schools Superintendent Cindy Hill and not reversing the law after the Wyoming Supreme Court struck it down.
Delegates to the county party's convention voted 36-1 on Saturday to adopt the resolution, which also criticizes Mead for supporting national Common Core educational standards.
House Speaker Tom Lubnau, a Gillette Republican, said Monday the public will better understand the concerns about Hill when all the facts are known.
Lubnau heads a House committee investigating Hill's management of the department. He says he hopes the panel's report will be complete in two or three weeks.
Lubnau said he was responding to the Platte County vote on behalf of the governor's office.
