Some weeks, we at the News Channel 5 sports department have a debate on who to pick for the Prep Athlete of the Week.
This week it was an easy choice.
Cosette Stellern is just straight up dominating the high school track season in the throwing events.
At the Glenrock track meet last week, she did what no other freshman has done in Wyoming history.
Cosette hurled the discus 142 feet and 10 inches, which is a record for freshman in Wyoming.
Ballie Gibson (Natrona) has the farthest throw of any female discus at 159 feet and 2 inches and her best freshman throw was just under 130 according to her coach.
The previous freshman record holder was Kacie O'Connor from Sundance, who had the states longest freshman throw of 137' 6.
Cosette is currently 35th in the "nation" out of 85-thousand female throwers.
So, she was the easy choice this week and deserves the title of Prep Athlete of the Week.
