Project Prom Kicks Off in Cheyenne

Cheyenne, WY (KGWN) - Pre-prom season is underway. And while many girls head to the department stores for their dresses, for others, that just isn't an option.
That's where Jean Richardson and Project Prom come in. High School girls can come in, try on dresses, and walk out with a gently used, and sometimes even new, prom dress.

After eight years, Richardson moved operations from her basement, to a storefront in Downtown Cheyenne. She said this year they've already collected more than 400 dresses.

Even though the turnout was light for the first day, Richardson said she expects to see more and more girls come out as prom gets closer.
And it's not just Cheyenne girls coming to Project Prom. In the first day, teens from Burns, Medicine Bow, and Laramie all came to check out the dress selection.

Project Prom goes through the first weekend of May.
