Rollover accident kills Wyoming man, injures another

A single car accident on Sunday resulted in one man being killed and another hospitalized.

Donald Abernathy, 83 of Lander, , was northbound on WY Hwy 789 in a 1991 GMC Sierra, when he lost control of his vehicle on an icy bridge deck. The vehicle crossed over the bridge and went off the west side of the road as it rotated counter-clockwise. Once off the road, the vehicle tripped and rolled 1 1/4 times coming to rest on its left side. Abernathy and Garric Martin, 34 also from Lander, were both ejected from the vehicle during the roll.

Donald Abernathy was pronounced dead at the scene. Martin was hospitalized.

The accident occurred on WY HWY 789, 13 miles south of Lander.

Neither men were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
