Cheyenne, WY (KGWN) - Safe Kids Day brought out hundreds of kids and parents on Saturday in Cheyenne. The afternoon provided parents with resources about keeping kids safe in ways big and small. It also gave kids some interactive lessons about staying safe when it comes to everything from swimming, to riding in boats, to gas lines under the streets of Cheyenne.
Victoria Ingerle has coordinated the event for the last few years and says its important because parents are busy and sometimes don't realize what kinds of things they need to be looking out for.
Later in the day, kids got a chance to meet two dogs from the Laramie County Sheriff's Department K9 Unit. They learned about the dog's training history, how much they cost, and even how they respond to commands in different languages to ensure no one can command the dog except his handler. They also got a demonstration of the dog's scent detection skills.
